In an interview with The Economic Times, Rahul Bhatia of IndiGo speaks about the airline industry, IndiGo’s success and plans for the future of India’s coolest airline.
“Our competition is from ground transport – buses and trains. IndiGo is built on creating a new market. People who fly once a month now fly thrice a month because of great fares. People who never flew want to fly. That’s our market and that I think it has great opportunities. Our business is not to poach on other people’s businesses. It is not the way this company works.”
IndiGo is now flying international, and what a better way to announce it to the world than with a Runway Musical?
Here are the lyrics, sing along (if you are fast enough)!
We’re here to be the model of a modern global airline
An ambitious mission we remind ourselves of all the time
Flying more than ever with a flock of new planes in our fleet
You’ll be greeted once you’re seated by many captains just like me
Called the ground force for a reason, we’re machine-like in the way we work
Queueless check in, engineering, traffic handling, baggage clerks
Passengers with preferences, their fragile items itemised
(They’re an operations army that keeps every aspect synchronised)
On your journey there up in the air, we’ll handle every hassle
Great with kids and seniors too, tourists, and multinationals
Our service is so popular, we’re flying international
Our service is so popular, we’re flying international
We’ll remind ourselves now one more time with each and every single flight
We’re here to be the model of a modern global airline
and every time we fly we will ensure that you will land on time
We had not one, but TWO Diwali parties. Diya lights and loud crackers. Calorie heavy desi-ghee sweets. Happy drinks. Lovely W+K ladies in beautiful saris surrounding our very own lady-killer rascala. And to top it all off, we had a long, long five day weekend. Like we say, good things come to those who work hard.
The anticipation for the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, opening November 2012 in Kerala, is growing. High Life, British Airways inflight magazine, listed the event as one of the best biennales around the world.
India’s first international visual art biennale, organised under artistic direction of Bose Krishnamachari and Riyas Komu, will bring together 65 artists from 45 different countries in one of the most fabulous places in India and is indeed an exciting event to wait for.
The work is in progress and from what we hear from our friends at the biennale (included Joint Secretary V Sunil!), it’s going to be an unmissable event. We are booking our tickets now, the countdown has officially started.
